"The collection of the theses of Chaozhou
Opera in the Ming Dynasty" was published by Chaoshan
historical and cultural study center recently, in which there
are 400,000 words 40articles including "The Gold Hairpin"
written by Liu Xibi, "Cai Bojie" etc, five kinds
of operas.
The publication of this book, not only make the rarity
of China's ancient Opera have been preserved and spread widely,
but also offered the valuable document in studying China's
ancient Opera history, especially filled the blank of Chao
Opera history. It will play a positive role in the development
and innovation of the Chao Opera in the future.
Since the fifties of the 20th century, The five kinds of
opera articles were excavated successively in the ancient
tombs of the Ming Dynasty. They were "The Golden Hairpin"
written by Liu Xibi, "Cai Bojie", "The Mirror",
"Golden Flower Girl", "Su's sixth Daughter",
Opera circle and scholars very paid close attention to this
matter and published the review article successively in many
newspapers and periodicals. In 1999 the third Chaoshan study
international seminar, Mr. Rao Zong Yi suggested that the
published theses be collected and compiled a book. It would
have very high historical value and academic value for studying
historical source and course of China's ancient Opera and
Chao Opera.
