The initial achievements about chaoshan studies

　　 To year 2001 is the 10th anniversary of chaoshan history and culture study center. Vice secretary of municipal party committee Lai Yicheng paid a visit to the center office and discussed how to enhance the study of chaoshan history and culture and promote the chaoshan traditional culture.

　　The center has put premium on academic research since it was founded 10 year ago. Three international chaoshan studies seminars have been held successfully, and eight median-small sized seminars as well. Eighty books on chaoshan culture have been published including "chaoshan history and culture collection" which is very popular among readers. A committee including some overeas and domestic chaoshan studies associations was founded to collect books relating to chaoshan studies. 30,000 books and pamphlets were collected and have been made into 4 volumes. And much work has been done in spreading chaoshan culture and setting chaoshan stydies rewards.

　　Lai highly appreciated all the work done regarding the center for these 10 years. He emphasized the chaoshan history and culture study need massive efforts from many generations, which will make great contribution to the development of chaoshan area and even the whole China. All the 10 years efforts led to a solid foundation for chaoshan history and culture study. It is a golden opportunity to study chaoshan history and culture under the peaceful sociaty brought by the reforming and opening policy. He hoped the center will push further the movement of chaoshan study and promised the municipal government will do the best to support it.

　　The experts and scholars who attended the meeting are liu Feng, Mai Youzhi, Chen Dehui, Wu Qinsheng, Du Jingguo, Yang fangsheng, Cai Qixian, Li Lunlun.
